Spotcheck started with a simple question between our founding doctors. Do people often ask about a single spot on their skin?
In 2012, at a dermoscopy conference in Brisbane, Dr. Gary Pellizzari and Associate Professor Tony Dicker found themselves reflecting on a common experience: people frequently approached them in casual settings, social events, sidelines, even supermarkets, to ask about just one spot on their skin.

This sparked a bigger question: where do people turn when they’re worried about a single spot but don’t feel it warrants a full skin check? Their curiosity led them to pharmacies, where they discovered that pharmacists were routinely being asked the same thing.
That insight became the foundation for Spotcheck - a service designed to bridge the gap between everyday concerns and expert medical advice. Today, Spotcheck connects individuals with qualified practitioners, making skin cancer detection more accessible, efficient, and reliable.
